This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association (WAA), a milestone that celebrates decades of growth, professionalism, and innovation in the auction industry. The theme for the 2025 conference, "Together Towards Tomorrow," highlighted the commitment of auctioneers across the state to continuous learning, networking, and the advancement of auction technology and practices.
A Strong Presence from Hansen Auction Group
Our team had a large presence at this year's conference, with over 15 Hansen Auction Group employees attending. We believe in investing in our team, and events like this allow us to gain valuable insights, build meaningful connections, and stay ahead in the evolving world of auctions. The WAA provides specialized training, industry updates, and legal insights, making it an essential resource for professional auctioneers.
Celebrating Our Team’s Involvement
This year’s conference was packed with events, including multiple speakers, a banquet auction, a gala, and a celebration of WAA’s 75-year history. There were also exhibits, bid-calling contests, and auctioneering competitions that showcased the incredible talent in our industry.
We are proud of our team members who stepped up to take on new roles:
- Andrew Molencamp and Chase Hansen competed in the Novice Auctioneer Competition. Andrew placed 3rd in the competition - an outstanding achievement that highlights his skill and dedication to the craft!
- Bridget Siler helped organize and run the FFA Auctioneer Competition, a fantastic event that encourages the next generation of auction professionals. Bridget also competed in the Ringman Competition!
- Lake Boehm took on a role as a judge for the Bid Calling Competition—a unique experience for him, as he’s usually the one competing! Lake also took on the announcer/entertainer role for the bid calling competition.
- Lake Boehm, Samantha Obitz, and Tim Ault were session presenters, introducing speakers throughout the conference. It was great to see our team actively involved beyond just attending.
- Bryce Hansen spoke on behalf of the association at the Installation of Officers for all WAA board members, finalizing the 2025 board and welcoming the new board members.
- Carol Wagenson, a valued ringman and auctioneer at our Nitke auction, was inducted into the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame! She also took home the title of Ringman Champion. We are thrilled for Carol and proud to have her on our team at our live auctions!
A Look at the 2025 WAA Conference
Beyond competitions and networking, the conference provided valuable learning opportunities through expert-led sessions and industry discussions. With exhibits showcasing new auction technology and practices, attendees had the chance to explore innovations that will help shape the future of the auction industry.
As always, the WAA conference served as a reminder of the strength of our auctioneer community and the value of coming together to share knowledge, refine skills, and support one another.
